Which hryvnia notes do we accept?

The hryvnia (UAH, sign ₴) is the currency of Ukraine, and the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) issues its notes. We take every value in the current designs: 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1,000 hryvnias. All six go at the UAH rate on this page, the 20-hryvnia note as well as the 1,000.

Which hryvnia notes we accept and at what rate
Notes Values How we exchange them
Current designs, 2014–2019 UAH 20–1,000 at the UAH rate on this page
2003–2007 designs UAH 1–500 not accepted
Designs from before 2003 all not accepted
Commemorative notes all not accepted
Coins all not accepted

The current designs date from 2014 (UAH 100), 2015 (UAH 500), 2018 (UAH 20) and 2019 (UAH 50, 200 and 1,000). The 1,000-hryvnia note has only ever had this design, while the NBU also issued the other five values in older designs. Our cashier checks the design of each note before the exchange.

We do not accept notes in the 2003–2007 designs. The NBU is withdrawing them gradually, and banks in Ukraine no longer pay them out. The UAH 20 to UAH 500 notes of that series are still legal tender in Ukraine, but the UAH 1, 2, 5 and 10 notes stopped being legal tender on 2 March 2026. Under NBU Board resolution No. 14 of 17 February 2026, banks in Ukraine exchange them free of charge until 26 February 2027, authorised banks until 28 February 2029, and the NBU itself until it decides otherwise.

Notes designed before 2003 have not been legal tender since 1 October 2020. The NBU and authorised banks exchange them until martial law in Ukraine ends and for 90 days after.

We also do not take NBU commemorative notes, such as the vertical UAH 20 note of 2023 and the UAH 50 note of 2024, or damaged notes. We do not take coins either, the UAH 1, 2, 5 and 10 coins included. Read the exchange rules

Which rate applies to you?

Changing hryvnias into złoty. Select UAH under “You give” and PLN under “You get”. You get our “We buy” rate: the number of złoty we pay you for 1 hryvnia.

Buying hryvnias with złoty, for example before a trip to Ukraine. Select PLN under “You give” and UAH under “You get”. You pay our “We sell” rate: the number of złoty 1 hryvnia costs you.

The “We sell” rate is higher than the “We buy” rate. We earn on that gap, the spread, so we charge no commission in either direction. If the card shows “Not for sale” in place of a “We sell” rate, we have no hryvnias to sell right now.

How many złoty will I get for 1,000 hryvnias?

Multiply 1,000 by the “We buy” rate and you have the złoty you get for UAH 1,000. If you are buying hryvnias, multiply by the “We sell” rate instead. The note value makes no difference: ten 100-hryvnia notes get the same rate as one 1,000-hryvnia note. The table below covers common amounts from UAH 100 to UAH 10,000, at the rate on the card at the top of the page.

UAH to PLN for common amounts at the rate on this page
Amount We buy UAH → you get We sell UAH → you pay
UAH current-design notes, UAH 20 to UAH 1,000 Based on the rate of
100 UAH 8.30 PLN 8.70 PLN
500 UAH 41.50 PLN 43.50 PLN
1,000 UAH 83.00 PLN 87.00 PLN
2,000 UAH 166.00 PLN 174.00 PLN
5,000 UAH 415.00 PLN 435.00 PLN
10,000 UAH 830.00 PLN 870.00 PLN

We do not accept 2003–2007 or older designs, commemorative notes or coins.

The calculator works the other way too. Select PLN under “You give” and UAH under “You get”, and the line under the fields shows how many hryvnias 1 PLN buys. For a larger sum, call before your visit to check we have the cash.

Why our rate differs from the one on Google

Search “UAH to PLN” and Google shows you a single number: the mid-market rate from the interbank market, halfway between buying and selling, with no cost of handling cash. The National Bank of Poland (NBP) publishes its own hryvnia mid-rate in Table A every business day, between 11:45 and 12:15. We use it, for example, to check whether a transaction reaches the EUR 15,000 threshold for ID. At a counter you trade at a buy rate or a sell rate, so compare those two numbers.

When you compare exchange offices in Warsaw, check five things:

  • Both rates together, because the gap between buying and selling is what the exchange costs you. The smaller it is, the less you lose when you buy hryvnias before a trip and sell the rest when you get back.
  • Which notes the rate covers. Ours covers every current-design note from UAH 20 to UAH 1,000.
  • Whether there is a commission. Ours is 0 PLN, whatever the amount.
  • When the rate was last updated. We change ours by hand during the day and show the date and time of the last change on the rate card.
  • Whether the online rate applies at the counter, and whether the office is in the NBP register. Our rate applies as long as you quote it before the exchange begins, and you can check our entry, number 20550, in the NBP search.

Do you need hryvnias or złoty in Warsaw?

Poland uses the Polish złoty (PLN). Shops, restaurants and public transport in Warsaw charge in złoty, so change your hryvnias if you want cash for your stay. If you are travelling on to Ukraine, you can buy hryvnias here at our “We sell” rate. For a larger amount, call ahead to check we have the cash.

Reserve the rate before you come

  1. Pick UAH and the amount in the calculator.
  2. Click “Reserve this rate” and leave your phone number and email address.
  3. Check the currencies, the direction of the exchange and the amount, then send the request.
  4. Come to the counter within 60 minutes, and before closing time.

Reservations are available only during opening hours, excluding public holidays. The rate is valid for up to 60 minutes from submission, but no later than closing time. A reservation does not guarantee cash availability. If the amount you need is unavailable, we will call you.

When do you need ID?

We ask for photo ID (a passport, national ID card or residence card) for any transaction equivalent to EUR 15,000 or more at the NBP mid-rate for the day. We may also ask for ID in other cases provided for by anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorist-financing law, including for lower amounts.

What is the hryvnia rate today at Kantor X?

Check the rate card at the top of the page. “We sell UAH → you pay PLN” is what 1 hryvnia costs you at the counter, with no commission, and “We buy UAH → you get PLN” is what we pay you for 1 hryvnia. The card shows the date and time of the last change, and the table above has the amounts from UAH 100 to UAH 10,000.

How many złoty will I get for 1,000 hryvnias?

1,000 times our “We buy” rate, with no commission. The rate is the same for every current-design note, so ten 100-hryvnia notes get you as much as one 1,000-hryvnia note. The table above has the result at today’s rate.

How many hryvnias will I get for 100 złoty?

100 divided by our “We sell” rate. The calculator does the sum for you: select PLN under “You give” and UAH under “You get”. For a larger amount, call before your visit to check we have the cash.

Do you take commemorative notes or coins?
